What's happening at the Lakes?

Camping and glamping in Bedfordshire

Here at Henlow Bridge Lakes we are open all year round. We are one of Bedfordshire's best-kept secrets and make an excellent escape to the freedom of the great outdoors to relax, recharge your batteries, fish, connect with nature, enjoy the lakeside and countryside walks, spot the wildlife, enjoy some quality family time away from the modern hustle and bustle or even jump on the train to explore a temporarily quieter London which is only a short ride from the nearby mainline station in Aresley.

Spring, summer, autumn or winter you can be sure of a great welcome from us and you'll find our family and pet-friendly site is the perfect place to wind down after the stresses which this year has brought with it.

A pre-Christmas break might be just what the doctor ordered and all the info about our camping and glamping can be found here on our main website.

Our fantastic reviews on Tripadvisor have helped us gain the Travelers' choice badge, and we really appreciate it when our guests take the time to post something nice about the site.

Amazing

"We stayed in a cabin. So peaceful great bathroom and bunks really clean. Had great fun with fire pit. Everyone having fun at site. We used the petanque pitch to play boules.

Didn't fish but kids and adults were enjoying and catching fish. Walks were good along the river.

Wish we'd stayed longer and found it years ago."

Our luxury lodges and cabins are equipped with all mod cons, so you won't miss your home comforts.

This year, as well as our regulars, 2020 seems to have brought us an influx of new campers or 'staycationers' who have been having a great time getting to grips with new tents and caravans.

Our wardens are always on hand to help with any teething problems which the new campers may have and are happy to get you sorted out so you can enjoy the new lifestyle changes which have been thrust upon many of us, and we hope to see you return for many years to come. If you're a newbie and you don't know where exactly to empty your waste (at the Elsan points) or how to extract your cassette toilet, or are unsure about camping etiquette like not cutting through pitches, or our site rules such as, no music after 10.30pm, dogs on leads at all times, 5mph speed limit etc just have a chat with any of our staff and they will happily help you out.

Our well-stocked on-site shop with freshly baked morning goods, pastries, pies, coffee and other goodies (open from 8.30am until 4pm, later at weekends) sells all the things you may have forgotten to bring, like hook up leads, but also the everyday things which you might not have thought of bringing, like torches and tether posts for your dog.

We do of course have the essentials like milk, bacon, eggs, wine and beer in our fridges.

If you would like our freshly baked croissants, pain au chocolates or baguettes delivered to your pitch in the morning, please order them in good time the day before and our wardens will get them to you after 8.30am. Our staff can point you to local pubs and eateries, but we also have local takeaways who are happy to deliver to the gate where you can meet them.

Online booking system

We are constantly improving our booking methods, particularly with our online system, so everyone can see immediately what's available and can book quickly so that they don't miss out. If there are any unusual booking requests which aren't covered online, feel free to contact the office to discuss your holiday options with us.

All our pricelists and brochures can be viewed and downloaded via the links from our main website and answers to most questions can be found there as well.

"We arrived Monday to Thursday and was our second visit within the year, This place never fails, Brilliant kept premises all round and nothing out of place! Lovely clean showers but do get really warm and steamy! Can't wait to visit again!!" Review by swiftelvis August 2020

Fishing

Our online booking system and revised opening times for day and night anglers have proved to be extremely popular since they were introduced a couple of months ago.

Now there's no more getting up at the crack of dawn and trying to arrive at the lakes before 6.30 to get your favourite swim before anyone else, as it can now be reserved well in advance, and, as there is no entry to the lakes until 8.00am you can have a little lie-in before you start your day with us. Night fishing is also available and our bathroom facilities are available nearby throughout the night.

2020 seems to be the year of the female angler here at the lakes and it may be down to the pre-booking and later start times, but also to our excellent bathroom facilities, ANPR controlled access and secure parking.

Our canal lakes are open and tickets for fishing these smaller lakes can be bought at the shop from 9am daily.

The onsite shop is open from 8.30am daily and stocks fishing tackle, maggots baits etc.

We also have starter kits for sale which include everything you need to go fishing.

"Can’t recommend Henlow lakes enough. We stayed in one of the cabins overlooking the lake, so if you need to get your kids off their devices and away from Fortnite this is perfect. With an abundance of fish and many a good size they never had time to get bored! We will definitely book again! " Bernie S July 2020

We have an angling feature on our Facebook page each week, 'Fishy Friday' where we post any pictures that have been sent to us during the previous week, so if you would like to see your photos on our Facebook page, and possibly on our notice boards, just DM your best three shots via the Facebook page, or email them to info@henlowbridgelakes.co.uk If you add a few details, names, ages etc it will be more interesting for our readers.

LPG Station

The beginning of this year saw us open our Autogas LPG filling point on-site near the canal lakes, which is open all year round... blog post with full info here.

It's open to the public and has proved very popular, as it's one of the few places to fill up in this area and we welcome campers, caravaners and members of the public who need a local supplier.

If you are passing by, just punch in our postcode SG16 6DD and you'll find us on the slip road to the railway station off the eastbound A507 heading towards the A1.

If you are driving a JustGo motorhome back to their base we are now an even more popular last stop-off point for your adventurers as you can fully refill the vehicle before returning it to them with peace of mind and a full gas tank.

Caravan storage expansion

Here at Henlow Bridge Lakes we already have a CaSSOA registered, accredited and approved caravan storage facility, which reaches the highest GOLD STANDARD requirements and we are on track with the development of our new storage area which will be much bigger and will also have the Cassoa requirements of three levels of security, including CCTV, entry points, perimeter fencing and alarm systems, which, along with nearby staff will give you confidence that your caravan or motorhome is being looked after properly.

For all enquiries about the new storage availability (which should be ready in the new year) please email storage@henlowbridgelakes.co.uk.

Comedy Special

Our regulars and locals are already aware that we usually host a couple of corporate comedy shows a year in conjunction with our sister company, Henlow Building Supplies which are always full houses.

There are also our pre-festival comedy nights which always sell out, and, not to be swayed this year we are hosting an outdoor socially distanced comedy show with our booking partner Castle Comedy

They have in the past brought us Bob Mills, Zoe Lyons, Pete Firman, Mike Gunn, Gary Delaney, Jarred Christmas, President Obonjo, Patrick Monaghan, Olaf Falafel, Matt Price and Ricky Grover, amongst others, and have now secured two great acts and a secret guest for a special evening of comedy on September 3rd 2020.

For this show, we have Simon Brodkin, best known for his character Lee Nelson and TV comedienne, Suzi Ruffell, plus a special guest and all compared by Paul Revill.

It's an outdoor event with a bar and food available.

BUT, and there's always a BUT...

The event has sold out already.

If you would be interested in joining us for another comedy show before the end of summer, just let us know and we may consider it. info@henlowbridgelakes.co.uk

Social Media

As most people are aware, the place to find information is very often on social media platforms. We have a very active and vibrant Facebook page. where we post all our news and special offers first before sending out mailshots. We will soon be adding special competitions and voucher offers, so be sure to like and follow our Facebook page if you haven't already, and get the news and info there first.

If you have any camping pictures which you would like to share with your fellow Henlow Bridge Lakes fans, use the message button on there to send them to us with a few details and we will be happy to share them with our readers.
